![]() The protein skimmer isn't something you will be able to use in a freshwater system. The good ones of those will be programmable in flow rate with a touch pad or a phone, and run super quiet. So, if you aren't happy with the noise level (too loud?) that those pumps generate when running in your sump? Then it will be best to look at purchasing new, DC electric type pumps. The problem will almost always be about NOISE with those electrical pumps. The Sunsun electric submersible pumps are a serviceable design, but not the best. They won't seal well on plastic fittings if they have lost pliability. Be ready to replace vinyl hoses, if they seem excessively stiff. Be careful and don't grrrr those things down too tight onto plastic fittings. The hose clamps I see on your system are more of an insurance kind of thing. Connecting vinyl hoses to plastic fittings is best done by slip on type. Adhesives and sealants can cause their own problems. when using bulkhead connectors to fit up those plastic fittings through drilled glass. Thanks Deborahįirst things first then, and it will be key to remember, aquarium sump systems ALWAYS look more complicated at this point (all disassembled) than they really are! Trust me on this, the ESHOPPS sump you have as the foundation of this system is a very good one. I appreciate input as I have no experience with this. I have convinced him, I think, a sump is likely the best option. Ryan is trying to set this up and he has not used a sump before. I have used a sump in the past but it's been many years and it was much simpler. Once I have the connections & adjustments I would like to figure out how best to use this sump. Should they be glued in place or better to replace with threaded connections. Slip fittings on durso pipes to gray flexible lines and clear tubing to return water to tank were not all glued. It looks like smaller sump pump sent some of the sump water to UV sterilizer then dumped it back into the sump.? Water flows through sump maze then returns to tank from larger pump with clear tubing split with a T fitting. I think the gray hoses attach to back overflow boxes (2 drilled boxes) & send water to sump from durso pipes. This is what i want, 3-1 inch bulkheads with 1.5" down plumbing.ġ) has anyone had this/built this overflows systems? any feedback?Ģ)it says it can "easily handle 2000 GPH" do u think 2000 GPH is to much for a 60g?ģ)what kind of return pump? 2000GPH or less GPH so i can dial the overflow down?Ĥ)last question, for the coast to coast i plan to use acrylic(not sure what size yet) but the home depot i town doesnt carry any black acrylic. Not pictured - NPT ? connections & gaskets x 4Īll fittings, pipes, drilled holes are same diameter. all i found was a sticker saying Mar 29, 2001, guess ill have to make a call.īeanAnimal's Bar and Grill - Silent and Fail-Safe Overflow System i looked to see if it had any stickers saying if it was tempered glass, nothing. I plan to turn this tank into my new reef tank.:bounce::^: i want to drill the tank for a Bean Animal Drain system with a coast to coast overflow. its a 36Lx21Hx18.5W 60 gallon freshwater oceanic systems aquarium and stand. So a couple days ago i got a free 60 gallon setup from my cousin who moved out of town and couldnt take it with him, so he gave it to me.
